Final Paper Assignment

Throughout this course you have learned valuable strategies for being successful in college and in life. Throughout your academic journey, you may often endure barriers, setbacks, or failures that prevent you from doing well and being successful. For your Final paper, discuss a barrier that was hindering you from being successful in college. Describe the barrier, how did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? What strategies from this course could you have implemented to help overcome the barrier? This does not have to be about a past experience, if you are currently dealing with a challenging situation, or anticipate a challenge in the future, you can discuss that.

Barriers, setbacks, or challenges can include: financial concerns, access to technology, family support, lack of transportation, first-generation student, language barrier (ESL), status, fixed mindset, and work, to name a few.

Here is an example:

• I am a first-generation student. I am unfamiliar navigating the college landscape and have been taking the wrong courses. Learning the structure of higher education and the different types of courses in Module 1 would have provided me with the knowledge to pick….

Do not spend more than one paragraph describing the barrier, setback, or failure, instead focus on the strategies your learned in the course and how it could help.
