Student bases topic selection on unit data or an analysis of unit’s need for the topic Expressed a need for a consistent sheet of paper or form that has all of the information you would need for your patient when handing off for breaks of change of shift or when taking them to a different unit c. Project Description – clearly defines project focus/learning needs of target population and project necessity TeamSTEPPS Handoff tool – I PASS the BATON to use as a handoff. Will create an easy sheet to be filled out for your patient. When handing off to other nurses or postpartum units. Criteria: Student clearly describes on-unit collaboration AND shared decision making with unit team members during project development Statement clearly describes the project focus, the learning needs of the target population, AND project necessity. Statement clearly describes unit-based data analyzed to form project AND provides an analysis of why project is a unit need 2. Review of the Literature a. The literature review should support the need for the project. Select 6 peer reviewed research articles within the past 5 years. b. Critique and Synthesis the literature you reviewed: i. Summarize the article/study. ii. Describe how the articles support your project Criteria: Review has at least 6 articles from the last 5 years. All articles are from peer-reviewed journals. All six articles support project focus. Displays synthesis of all six included literature sources 3. Methods a. Identify the teaching methods and learning objectives b. Describe your target population and setting. c. Identify any materials, teaching aids, etc., in the teaching presentation Criteria: Student clearly identifies both target population and setting and the connection between target population and setting is explicit. Clearly identifies the teaching method, and makes explicit how its utilization will meet project objective. Clearly identifies materials to be used in teaching or poster presentation and provides example of participant learning 4. Evaluation/Conclusions a. Describe and evaluate the effectiveness of your presentation. b. Describe and evaluate the process of your project. c.
